word on the street

Kory’s photography style is made for families on the move. It’s one of the absolute best parts about what she does. She captures my children in their element. They are moving, they are exploring, they are being loved, they are laughing, and yeah, sometimes they are crying too. Her photos are a window into our world - a bunch of images that capture the everyday life of our family. I don’t look back on my pictures and remember a stressful experience of a quest for the perfect shot. I look back at the shots and they instantly take me back to the time that they were taken. They make me remember the way my boys’ big baby cheeks used to crinkle when they smiled. Or I remember how they used to have to carry matchbox cars in their tiny little hands everywhere they went. Kory captures the small moments, the details that in hustle of everyday life, I know I may not remember some day. It makes me sad to think that I might not remember the tiny details that make up the big picture of our family. Then I remember that I always will because thanks to Kory, they are all over my walls.”

“Kory is beyond fun, she’s crazy, she’ll win anyone over (even your grumpy family member) and will make you feel like a friend in an instant. I haven’t ever actually had someone photograph my family the way she does and what shocked me was the way she won over my kids in about 6 seconds. I don’t honestly know if I can really add anything that she doesn’t express perfectly the first time you have a chance to meet her. But if you are a dad or a mom, and just a bit nervous wondering if it’s going to be fun, take my advice, and just go. Wake up early, disrupt the nap schedule, stay up late, whatever it takes because I know that she’ll catch the glimpses in it all that makes your family unique. You will not be able to stop smiling when you are doing the session, after the session, and especially when you see your family, your own brand of crazy captured perfectly.”

“I hope you realize what it means every single time some family asks for YOU to be the one to document their days. I smile every time I look at this year’s Christmas card. I don’t know how you do it all…I hope that for me, some day I’ll be VERY old and VERY gray and I will sit in my little rocking chair and look at the gorgeous photos of my babies and remember that you were the person who captured those moments. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.”
